Job Description and Duties

PARK AIDE (SEASONAL) ($11.17 - $12.81/HOUR) – SAN LUIS OBISPO COAST DISTRICT / COASTAL SECTOR / HEARST SAN SIMEON SP (SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY)

The reporting location for this position is Hearst San Simeon State Park. This position will work under the supervision of the State Park Supervising Ranger and general direction of the State Park Peace Officers/Rangers.

The position will staff the Hearst Castle Visitor Services Office and the Hearst San Simeon State Campground, both located in San Simeon, CA.  The position is responsible for registering campers, collecting park fees, issuing park passes and providing information to park visitors in a professional manner.  A Department and District approved uniform is required to be worn during work hours.  Work hours will vary and will include days, nights, weekends and holidays. The incumbent will be required to work solo shifts as well as shifts with other staff. 

Applicants should have the following qualities: Ability to stand for prolonged periods; work under extreme weather conditions; effectively communicate with visitors and other park staff; operate a computer or cash register.

Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKS program.  Applicants who receive State public assistance need to identify their status as a CalWORKS recipient in the comments area on the application.  Applicants must submit a verification of their CalWORKS eligibility status, which may include the most recent Notice of Action showing TANF eligibility or a copy of your last aid check stub.  If verification is not submitted with the application, the application will not be processed. (Applicants may obtain verification from the CalWORKS program).
