Job Description and Duties

This is a limited term position with no minimum duration and a maximum duration of 24 months. The position is in the False Claims Unit of the Corporate Fraud Section, which investigates and litigates violations of the False Claims Act (Government Code section 12650 et seq.), and is responsible for a significant component of the Mortgage Fraud Task Force. False Claims cases often involve complex litigation in which large amounts are at stake. Duties of this limited term position will focus on searching, reviewing, and analyzing large quantities of electronic information and documents in complex litigation. Duties may also include other civil litigation tasks such as preparing and responding to pleadings and motions; propounding and responding to discovery, and preparation for and participation in hearings or trial.

Department Information

  • These positions are located in the Division of Public Rights, Corporate Fraud Section, False Claims Unit, San Francisco.

  •  These positions may be terminated at any time and/or utilized up to 24 months, depending on course of litigation. The Graduate Legal Assistant classification will be utilized for a maximum of 12 months.
  • Please disregard the SROA/Surplus language below, as the Department of Justice requires applicants to submit their SROA/Surplus Letter if that is the basis of their eligibility.

Special Requirements

A fingerprint check will be required for those hired from outside of the Department of Justice.
