Job Description and Duties

The successful candidate will assist staff in the field with water quality and biological data collection activities, and assist with conducting recreation and creel surveys.  This involves collecting data and following procedures according to scientific protocols under the direction of lead staff and traveling to locations throughout Northern California.  Other duties could include assisting with botanical, wildlife, fish enhancement, and restoration projects as needed.

Special Requirements

Possession of a valid California driver’s license.  The incumbent is required to work outdoors in remote areas, on uneven terrain, in and around rivers and lakes, aboard boats, and in inclement weather.  The incumbent is also required to work irregular hours, including weekends and holidays, long work shifts (10 to 12 hours per day), and out of town overnight travel.

Must have good communication skills and enjoy interacting with various members of the public.  Ability to identify common native plants, wildlife, and fish species, and the ability to operate and maintain scientific sampling equipment as well as the ability to use a tablet, Microsoft Office products, ArcView GIS, and GPS equipment.
