Job Description and Duties

The Department of Business Oversight is recruiting for one permanent, full-time Accounting Technician position in the Administration Division's Accounting Office located in Sacramento. This recruitment may be used to fill subsequent vacancies of these positions in DBO within the next 180 days.

Under the close supervision of the Accounting Administrator I (Supervisor) of the Travel/Accounts Payable/Payroll (TAPP) Unit, the Accounting Technician is responsible for performing routine semi-professional accounting work and account maintenance functions.

Incumbent will perform a variety of accounting duties to review and make basic accounting processes and will utilize FI$Cal system, databases, and spreadsheets to review and process routine transactions.

ncumbent needs to be flexible and adaptable to frequent workload changes based on organizational workload priorities.

Duties include :  
Prepares checks through FI$Cal system for travel, expense and salary advances and monitor revolving fund balances. Ensures the correct check process for the general cash disbursements coding and postings are done properly to reflect the correct general ledger accounts. Posts batch transactions into FI$Cal, print checks, and mail payments to vendors. Assist the Accounts Payable staff with processing invoices for purchase orders and contracts. Collects and reviews Stock Received Reports for accuracy and completeness. Maintain supplier ID information in FI$Cal. Reviews and maintains payment logs ensuring payments and activities are posted timely and accurately.

Acts as Accounting Section front desk clerk to assist customers/staff. Daily opening of Accounting Section mail. Responsible to identify and distribute documents and correspondence to the appropriate staff. Scans invoices and supporting documentation to be uploaded and attached to FI$Cal vouchers. Responsible to the Sacramento office monthly transit sales.

Control, sort, and distribute employee pay warrants from master payroll, permanent intermittent pay, and overtime pay as authorized by the Human Resoucerces Office. Process monthly distribution for out-of-town master payroll. Receive payroll warrants, and with HR authorization, released to authorized personnel or staff.

The Department of Business Oversight (DBO) protects consumers and oversees financial service providers and products. The DBO supervises the operations of state-licensed financial institutions, including banks, credit unions and money transmitters. Additionally, the DBO licenses and regulates a variety of financial service providers, including securities brokers and dealers, investment advisers, payday lenders and other consumer finance lenders.
