Job Description and Duties

Within the Independent Office of Audits and Investigations, under the supervision of a Senior Management Auditor, the incumbent exercises independence and proficiency in performing audits/attestation/consulting engagements of Caltrans, commercial contractors, local government entities, other state agencies, or independent certified public accounting firms in accordance with federal and state laws and government auditing standards. Incumbent must be willing to travel.  Position exists in Sacramento.

Working Conditions

The incumbent is primarily in an office environment. However, this position requires overnight travel, and travel to and from the auditee’s/client’s office as needed.



New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.

Special Requirements

Eligibility - Clearly state how you qualify for the Staff Management Auditor (Specialist) classification, including whether you have list eligibility, are eligible for reinstatement, or are a lateral transfer from your current position.

 

A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) must be submitted with your application.  The SOQ is a narrative discussion of how your education, training, experience, and skills qualify you for the position. Address the following statements in your SOQ and include specific examples of your background, experience, education, and/or training in these areas.   1. Background, experience, education and/or training that makes you the best candidate for this position.
  2. Knowledge and experience in performing audits in accordance with the Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards. 
  3. Experience assessing and documenting the adequacy of internal controls.
  4. Knowledge and experience in leading others, working independently, and maintaining positive relationships.

Candidates that believe they meet the Minimum Qualifications based on a pattern of education from the classification description (specifications) must provide a copy of your degree/transcripts and/or license along with your application (STD. 678) to be considered for this position.
