Job Description and Duties

The Department of Business Oversight is recruiting for one permanent/full-time Staff Services Manager I position in the Business Operations Office of the Administration Division. Position to be located in the Sacramento office.

Under the general direction of the Staff Services Manager II, incumbent plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the Facilities Management Unit Statewide including the operational and administrative functions related to the oversight and monitoring of the Facility Condition, Management & Maintenance, Office Space Management, Safety and Security, Emergency Preparedness, Equipment Maintenance, Telecommunication, Fleet/Transportation, and Waste Management.

Incumbent establishes, reviews and implements a wide variety of mandated and instructional policies, procedures, and processes involving facilities management. Establishes unit priorities, assigns, schedules, and monitors work. Reviews and approves all reports to comply with control agency directives. Makes recommendation and suggests solutions to management on complex departmental facility issues. Responds to and assists with building maintenance and emergency issues.

Incumbent is responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, and supervising staff. Ensure that staff is familiar with the unit’s business plan and principles and that they understand the office/branch expectations and duties as described in their duty statement. Provides feedback on job performance through regular monitoring of their productivity and workload. Prepares timely probation reports and annual performance reviews, provide training opportunities, and develop strategies and tools to build strengths and close performance gaps. If necessary, employ the necessary steps to address performance issues.

Working Conditions

The Sacramento office is currently located in a convenient midtown location within walking distance to light rail, restaurants, Capitol Park, and the Golden 1 Center. DBO anticipates moving their Sacramento office to the north Natomas area within the next 4 months.
