Job Description and Duties

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has a vacant position for an Attorney I in the Office of the General Counsel (OGC). OGC provides in-house legal services to all CDFW divisions and regions, directs the State Attorney General’s Office in representing CDFW before judicial bodies, and reports to the Director of CDFW.
The Attorney I will report directly to an Assistant Chief Counsel. This Attorney I position will work closely with CDFW’s program team implementing the Water Storage Investment Program (WSIP) adopted by the voters as part of Proposition 1 in 2014. This will include negotiations of contract and grant terms, research regarding the contracting and granting legal requirements, review to ensure that WSIP projects meet legal requirements, and preparation of other contract and grant-related legal documents. Review and ensure legal compliance for all WSIP projects with the provisions of the Fish and Game Code and related regulations.
