Job Description and Duties

Under the general supervision of the Communications and Imaging Resource Center’s (CIRC) Manager and the lead Digital Print Operator II, the Digital Print Operator I (DPO I) performs a variety of complex tasks related to document reproduction and digital printing work using less complex operating commands and electronic manipulation functions. Duties include operating high-speed digital printing equipment; completing tasks such as collating, assembling and binding of complex documents; making adjustments and minor repairs to equipment; and scheduling equipment maintenance. The incumbent must accurately and effectively make use of all technological features of the latest-generation, computer-networked digital printing equipment. This includes scanning, printing from digital files as well as hard-copies, and setting up complex printing and duplicating jobs using the document-preparation software associated with the equipment.

The incumbent should exercise a great deal of independence and be an enthusiastic individual with strong interpersonal, organizational, and demonstrated customer service skills. Have experience in the operation and manipulation of a variety of hardware and software applications in the development of print and digital publications. Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access. The incumbent should be dependable and attentive to detail.
