Job Description and Duties

As a member of a legal support clerical team, the incumbent will perform the more complex and technical duties in the mail room of the Office of the Attorney General in San Francisco. Under the general direction of the Office Manager and the immediate supervision of a Business Service Officer Supervisor, the incumbent is directly responsible for operating the equipment in the mailroom.

Training and good technical skills are required to perform proper operation and maintenance of mailroom equipment. It is essential that this equipment be maintained in proper working condition at all times to ensure the department's strict time deadlines are met. These functions are performed independently with minimal supervision. The incumbent is responsible for the distribution of incoming mail, collecting outgoing mail, affixing postage and depositing mail at correct sites.

The incumbent will process all courier mail from other Attorney General Offices statewide and is responsible for processing legal documents received during the outside court runs. The incumbent must be knowledgeable of current U.S. Postal Service rules and regulations.
