Job Description and Duties

SENIOR PARK AIDE (SEASONAL) ($12.40-$13.71/HOUR) – SAN LUIS OBISPO COAST DISTRICT / HEARST CASTLE TICKET OFFICE (SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY)

This position works under the supervision of the Administrative Officer I, and general direction of the State Park Interpreter III, the incumbent is responsible for the operational needs in the Ticket Office at Hearst Castle. Reporting location will be the Ticket Office at the Visitor Center. Ticket Office is open 7 days a week; closed only Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. Incumbent must be willing to work weekends, holidays, evenings and irregular hours.

General duties of this position are to meet and greet the general public while maintaining a positive customer service approach. Provide information on the tours available. Sell tickets, make ticket exchanges and handle reservation issues for visitors. Count tickets and load the tour buses. Report reservation problems and prepare reservation problem reports. Announce tours, record and calculate tour vacancies and resales. Communicate with other park personnel. Give directional information within facility and general/specific information about the local area, including tourist facilities, camping and directions to other areas. Handle and accurately account for cash and credit card sales of tickets on daily basis.  Make correct change. Prepare accurate records of daily transaction activities. Communicate with direct supervisor on a daily basis or as needed.Assist in training other seasonal employees. Become proficient in the operation and basic maintenance of one or more reservation system PCs, which include daily downloads and printouts of tour ticket availability. Create and maintain a positive and clean work environment.

Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKS program.  Applicants who receive State public assistance need to identify their status as a CalWORKS recipient in the comments area on the application.  Applicants must submit a verification of their CalWORKS eligibility status, which may include the most recent Notice of Action showing TANF eligibility or a copy of your last aid check stub.  If verification is not submitted with the application, the application will not be processed. (Applicants may obtain verification from the CalWORKS program).
