Department Information

The Bureau of Medical Cannabis Regulation (Bureau) is looking for a dynamic, highly motivated individual that wants to work in a multi-tasking environment.  The Bureau is a newly established program and responsible for creating the statutory framework for both medical and adult use commercial cannabis. The Bureau is the lead agency to coordinate this effort with other state agencies including Department of Food and Agriculture and Department of Public Health. The Bureau’s primary mission is to protect the public and consumers which is carried out through various regulatory licensing, enforcement and disciplinary activities.

For interested individuals, it is anticipated the Bureau of Medical Cannabis Regulation will be moving to a new location within Sacramento County by the end of 2017 that will include security staff on premises and video monitoring for added security.

  • The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.

The incumbent will have access to the Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) system. Title 11, Section 703(d) California Code of Regulations requires criminal record checks of all personnel who have access to Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI). Pursuant to this requirement, applicants for this position/examination will be required to submit fingerprints to the Department of Justice and be cleared before hiring.
