Job Description and Duties

Under the supervision and general direction of the Regional Manager or Program Manager for the Cal/OSHA Consultation Services Branch:

Acts as the lead and conducts detailed evaluations of General Contractors that have applied to the Voluntary Protection Program- Construction (VPPC) and of employers applying to the Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP).

Conducts periodic consultation case file reviews and accompanied visits to evaluate consultant office and field work.  These reviews and evaluations shall result in written reports to the appropriate Area Manager and the Regional Manager. Trains and mentors field staff via accompanied field visits, as well as formal and informal “classroom” instruction. Ensures uniform application all Department, Division and Consultation Branch policies and procedures.

Serves as the Regional Safety and Industrial Hygiene technical expert to advise and consult with the field staff.  Leads onsite consultations that are complex in nature.

Secures and maintains cooperation and appropriate relationships with employer groups,
employers and employees contacted in the course of carrying out the Consultation Branch annual plan mandates; prepares written correspondence and makes oral presentations.

Analyzes safety and industrial hygiene statistical data and managementinformation. Identifies problem areas and recommends courses of action to the Regional Manager.
