Job Description and Duties

Under the direction of a sergeant, the duties of the position include, but are not limited to:


Performs janitorial duties including sweeping, vacuuming, shampooing, stripping, buffing, and waxing floors; cleans, dusts, and polishes building furnishings; empties & cleans waste receptacles & shredders; cleans walls, windows, shades, and blinds; cleans & maintains restrooms including cleaning mirrors, counters, basins, & toilets; replenishes sanitation supplies throughout the facilities; performs minor repair of light fixtures; assisting in moving and arranging furniture, supplies, and equipment as necessary; cleaning, stocking, and maintaining storage rooms; maintaining employee break room/kitchen; cleaning, stocking, and maintaining storage rooms; maintains and orders janitorial supplies; and generally ensures a clean, safe working environment.  Maintain and sustain all flowers, ground covers, shrubs, trees and all other plants.  Fertilize plants and shrubs as needed.  Perform weeding, watering, trimming and pruning of all planted areas. Remove and dispose of all clippings, cuttings, weeds, debris, and trimmings.  Responsible for weed control of entire facility grounds, as well as sides of entrance/exit ramps and surrounding dirt areas.  Sprinkler maintenance including replacement of defective system components, adjusting components to assure adequate watering using the least amount of water.  Emptying and cleaning waste and ashtray receptacles; weeding and maintaining planters; removing trash & debris from the parking lot and planter areas; ensures the Facility and surrounding grounds are kept neat, clean, safe, and in good repair to reflect favorably upon the Department.  Maintains records of vehicle mileage and coordinating or providing required maintenance; keeping interior and exterior of vehicles clean; and stocking an adequate supply of flares, plastic blankets, first aid supplies, and other necessary equipment for vehicles.

Maximum 88 hours per month
