Job Description and Duties

What You Will Do:
CDFW has an exciting opportunity for a Research Program Specialist I (GIS) to provide support for the Department’s Fisheries Branch. This position will be part of the Department’s GIS Unit within the Biogeographic Data Branch, but will be housed a few blocks away at the shared Fisheries Branch / Water Branch building, where there is currently 1 additional GIS staff position. Among the programs that this position will play a key role in include the Coastal Monitoring Program, Fishing Regulations data management, and the National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) program.

Qualifications:
The candidate will demonstrate expertise in GIS concepts, methods and best practices. The ideal candidate will also have fisheries or other natural resources or biology experience, as well as experience working with complex stream and water body datasets, preferably with the NHD itself.
