What are we looking for?

The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Tech will primarily be responsible for the GIS-related activities that support Computer-Aided-Dispatch (CAD) and Automated Vehicle Locator (AVL) systems. This individual is responsible for ensuring the development, maintenance and testing of applications based upon spatially referenced data and digital mapping while working with a team of IT professionals and GIS Analysts whose purpose is to support GIS functions of the AVL systems.

Responsibilities include:
• Knowledge of ArcGIS, Arclnfo, ArcEditor, ArclMS, ArcSDE, and ArcView software products.
• Knowledge of general mapping principles, demographics analysis, spatialanalysis, remote sensing, and cartography.
• Ability to conduct research into GIS issues and products as required.
• Participate in design of new GIS analysis methodologies, applications, and strategies.
• Design sophisticated raster and vector based GIS analysis and classifications.
• Provide GIS guidance and support to the enterprise; act as single point of contact for GIS-related issues.
• Recommend and execute modifications to GIS software to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance.
• Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining GIS systems.
• Experience in developing and implementing new functionality and methods for GIS and spatial modeling.
• Understanding of spatial data analysis and taxonomies.
• Familiarity with relational database design as it applies to GIS software.
