Job Description and Duties

Harness your experience with social media and marketing communications to help the California Department of Justice recruit a highly qualified and diverse workforce. The Workforce Analytics and Recruitment Unit (WAR) of the California Department of Justice is looking for a highly motivated Student Assistant whose specialty is in any of the following fields: Communications, Marketing, Digital Media, Human Resources, or Recruitment. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to obtain hands-on experience in the field of Recruitment, Social Media Marketing, Multimedia productions including developing and editing videos while working for one of the nation's premier law enforcement agencies dedicated to social justice and equity for all Californians.

As a Student Assistant in the WAR unit, you will develop the skills associated with creating, implementing, and monitoring recruitment campaigns; assist in the planning and conducting of meetings with subject matter experts and recruitment analysts as they plan, develop, implement, and monitor recruitment campaigns; and assist with conducting research on the latest techniques in effectively recruiting top talent.

The successful applicant must be very responsible, professional and self-motivated as they will have the unique opportunity to interact with a wide variety of professionals involved in the day-to-day administrative aspects of the California Department of Justice. The incumbent will have a passion for learning and innovation. They will be creative in searching for ways to integrate their educational training to their Student Assistant experience. Individuals currently enrolled in an appropriate college or university program are encouraged to apply.

Department Information

  • This position is located in the Division of Operations, Office of Human Resources, Workforce Analytics and Recruitment Unit.
  • This position will be filled as a Temporary Appointment Authorization (TAU), intermittent appointment.

Special Requirements

  • A fingerprint check will be required.

  • Students who are currently enrolled in at least six (6) semester units or the equivalent of college courses at an accredited college or university, with a GPA of 2.0 or higher may apply for this position.
