Are you looking for a challenge, a chance to learn something new? We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Customer Support Team. The incumbent will be responsible for the continuing operation of the CDSS Service Desk which supports over 4000 CDSS employees.

The Information Technology Associate (ITA) is responsible for providing immediate support to users utilizing California Department of Social Services (CDSS) Information Technology (IT) equipment. The ITA serves as a “Single Point of Contact” Service Desk support analyst for all users including hardware and software support, and to provide advice, consultation, and analytical problem solving assistance in complex end user computing and interact in a professional manner with all levels of departmental staff.

Working Conditions

This work location is very convenient!  The CDSS is located two blocks from the light rail and public transportation; within walking distance to the State Capitol, parks, restaurants, farmer’s markets and the Golden 1 Arena. We offer an onsite cafeteria, onsite Golden 1 ATM, workout room and onsite day care services. Our building has easy access to I-5, Highway 50 and Highway 80.

Special Requirements

Job requires operating a computer terminal approximately 80% of the time. This position is subject to fingerprinting and criminal record clearance by the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

Experience in use of a call tracking system, documentation writing, providing IT training; and organizational and time management skills are a must. Excellent communication skills and strong background in computer technology are required. Exercise good judgment in providing assistance, consultation, and communication to all levels of staff. Experience with Microsoft Windows 7, Office 2010, Active Directory, System Management Server; OnWeb, Active Sync and BlackBerry support are desirable. The job could involve some travel within California.
