In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
Knowledge of the OLC and the legislative processes; knowledge of the form, style, and construction of Commendatory Resolutions; demonstrated utilization of proofreading procedures, symbols, and terminology; ability to produce quality work under critical time constraints and extreme workload pressures; demonstrated flexibility and adaptability with fluctuating work hours and priorities; willingness to accept increasing levels of responsibility and assist with other office tasks as workload demands.
• Critically read, review, and edit all Legislative Member's Resolution requests.
• Work independently to proofread drafts to ensure accurate spelling, grammar, and conformity to office style.
• Review text for logic, expression, and readability, and identify and resolve inconsistencies and other problems.
• Advise writers on technical drafting aspects to correct inconsistencies in drafts and makes necessary revisions to resolutions to ensure compatibility with the Legislative style set forth by the Assembly and Senate Committees on Rules to ensure camera ready formatting for final dissemination and transmission to Assembly and Senate Reprographics for framing and the ultimate presentation of each Member's Resolutions by the Members of the California State Legislature or their representatives.
• Review all incoming Resolution requests and use a specialized computer system to assign, create, and update tracking information for these requests.
• Answer inquiries from resolutions staff, capitol staff, members of the Legislature and their respective staff, and Assembly and Senate Reprographics staff as to the status of requests.
• Take messages and refer callers to an appropriate team member.
• E-mail approved requests to Assembly and Senate Reprographics when requested.
• Attend and participate in meetings.
• Train other staff on proofreading procedures and processes.
• Prepare and update all daily and monthly reports for the unit.
• Maintain the unit attendance calendar.
