In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
• Experience working as a first level, or higher, supervisor over technical or other staff.
• Knowledge of and work experience in the principles and practice of engineering geology relating to water quality control and water resource management; the cleanup of contaminated soil, groundwater (and associated vapors) and sediment.
• Knowledge of applied practices regarding (i) the physical, biological, and chemical factors of water pollution and water quality; and (ii) the management of surface waters and groundwaters to control water pollution and water quality.
• Knowledge of federal and State of California laws, policies, and regulations regarding protection and assessment of marine, estuarine, freshwater, and groundwater resources.
• Experience managing programs or projects under the CERCLA framework.
• Demonstrated ability to motivate teams to deliver timely and accurate professional work products.
• Skills in delegating, directing and reviewing numerous work products.
• Experience and proficiency leading project teams and applying situational leadership styles.
• Experience organizing and leading program change initiatives.
• Experience using communication and outreach skills to effectively influence others to meet organizational goals.
• Experience preparing and delivering executive or board-level issue briefings.
• Ability to prioritize and align effort and resources to organizational and project priorities.
• Ability to direct incorporation of current engineering geologic, scientific, and technical information into projects.
• Ability to generate collaboration that fosters partnerships and effective communication with the regulated community.
• Ability to use organizational values in decision-making and work products.
