Job Description and Duties

The tasks for the Senior DB2 DBA include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Support of the development environment for SFO and Batch.
• Development of and support of integration between SQL Server and DB2 databases from and to SQL Server and
  DB2 and vice versa.
• Develop and implement DB2 Stored Procedure verification tools that assists developers and operations with problematic
  Store procedures.
• Develop and implement “DB2 Reorganize procedures” that automatically selects and “reorgs” tables based upon
  pre-selected criteria without interrupting production performance or activity.
• Analyze and evaluate anomalies in the BMC Logmaster product and set up procedures that will prevent future anomalies
  that corrupt production data.
• Develop and implement and support procedures for the synchronization between different environments.
• Develop and implement and support proactive tools for DB2 environments (lock escalation report).
• Evaluate new products (IBM, BMC, CA)
• Maintain the “Policy database split” that significantly increased table’s availability.
• Develop and implement local and remote database backup procedures to increase nightly batch window times.
• Review SQL statements for accuracy and impact 
• Provide training to explain DBA procedures, communicate both to non-technical users and to technical personnel on
  DBA team, Applications teams, and to Mainframe Data Center teams.
• Provide generalist DB2 databases tasks, provide technical coverage for DB2 databases when the primary DBA
  unavailable including after hours support on weekends.
• Mentor new SCIF employee DBA if needed. 

Working Conditions

This job may be extended to a 24 month Limited Term appointment.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
Technical Skills and Experience:
• 4+ years technical knowledge and experience with most of the following systems, platforms, applications
• IBM Z/OS Mainframe environment
• Knowledge of data conversion and integration processes and procedures and practices between DB2 and SQL
  Server 2008 and 2012 
• DB2 Version 8
• DB2 DBA skills with hands on in a production database
• Backup and recovery scenarios including Disaster Recovery
• Data Propagator, CA Insight, BMC toolset, IBM toolset, Data Joiner, or DB2 connect
• TSO / ISPF skills, Z/OS JCL
• Explain reports, Work Load Manager Stored Procedures, performance tuning
• Maintain DB2 relational databases
• IBM DB2 Utilities and BMC DB2 Administration, Backup, Recovery and Utilities
• Providing end user support and customer service management
• Responding to email, clients, support calls, IT management
• Tracking, monitoring, and reporting IT jobs and processes using various software products
• Communicate and prepare management reports to IT management and end users
• Sharing knowledge with other team members and mentoring/coaching employees
