Job Description and Duties

Under general direction, incumbents are responsible for providing direct nursing care, treatment, and rehabilitation to patients admitted to the California Medical Facility - Psychiatric Inpatient Program (CMF-PIP); Vacaville; providing direction to other personnel who assist them in providing such care; assisting physicians as directed; taking independent action within professional preparation and legal limits of their licensure; performing nursing duties as assigned; maintaining order and supervising the conduct of patients; protecting and maintaining the safety of persons and property; and providing health care teaching to patients.  Incumbents also assist in training other nursing personnel.

Working Conditions

The employee is required to work any shift and schedule in a variety of settings and may be required to work overtime and float to other work locations as determined by the operational needs.  All employees are required to have an annual health review and repeat health reviews whenever necessary to ascertain that they are free from symptoms indicating the presence of infection and are able to safely perform their essential job duties.

Department Information

The California Medical Facility - PSYCHIATRIC INPATIENT PROGRAM (CMF-PIP) is located within CMF/Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.  CMF-PIP is a 396-bed inpatient psychiatric facility within a state prison serving incarcerated adult males.
