Are you interested in working in a small but dynamic Human Resources office where you will be part of a team who interacts closely with employees, supervisors, and managers on various personnel, payroll, and benefit issues? If you are, then the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, (CDFW), Human Resources Branch (HRB) may be just the place for you. CDFW is looking for a motivated, challenge-seeking individual interested in working with an exciting and diverse team. We are located downtown in the Water Resources Building at 9th and N Street. The Light Rail Station stops right next to the building and various bus stops are located near the building. We are also close to the downtown plaza, great restaurants and even a gym is located close by.
As part of the HRB Team, you are responsible for personnel, payroll, and various benefits for CDFW employees. This includes completing and/or reviewing documents and keying data into the State Controller’s data base. Documents to be processed/keyed may include, but are not limited to: Personnel Action Request (PAR), Report of Miscellaneous Hours (F. 671), Employment Action Request (EAR), Payroll Adjustments Notice (F. 674), Attendance Report (F. 672), and Health and Dental Enrollment forms; also responsible for auditing employees’ time sheets and maintain employees’ leave balances using the automated Leave Accounting System. You will also be responsible for establishing and clearing accounts receivable and salary advances, as required.
Applicants must have the ability to: interpret and apply State laws, rules, regulations, and Department policies, as well as contract provisions as they relate to personnel and payroll transactions; to understand the keying requirements for and use the on-line systems of PIMS, PIP, HIST, CLAS, CSP, and other on-line systems; apply departmental policies and procedures appropriately. Applicants will be required to work with computer applications used by CDFW, SCO, CalHR and CalPERS.
This position requires an individual who has good communication (verbal and written) and organizational skills along with excellent customer service skills. Applicants must be responsible and tactful in dealing with employees, peers, supervisors, and management. Strong independent work habits, knowledge of Excel and Word, good comprehension skills, and good attendance are a must.
