Job Description and Duties

To apply for this position, you must submit a Standard State Application (STD 678) along with copies of your most recent performance report and license/certification to the contact person listed below. In the “Explanations” section of the STD 678, you must indicate your appointment eligibility (list, transfer, permissive reinstatement, etc.).


Under medical or licensed nursing supervision, perform simple nursing tasks involved in the care of physically ill or disabled patients in a State correctional facility in the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, assist the physician or nurse with examination and treatments of patients, motivate and assist patients in developing and utilizing their maximum potential for self-care, maintain order and supervise the conduct of inmates, youthful offenders, or patients, protect and maintain the safety of persons and property, maintain security of work areas and work materials, and do other related work.

Requirements (minimum qualifications):

Possession of a valid Nursing Assistant Certificate issued by the California Department of Public Health.

Please note: It is up to the hiring authority to accept Training and Development (T&D) assignments. If you are interested in a T&D assignment, you are not required to meet MQs; however, you must indicate T&D as your eligibility when applying.

Live Scan

Additional Information

We are canvassing to establish an On-Call limited-term intermittent CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT support pool. These positions will be limited to 1,500 hours per calendar year. They will be used to perform duties in various areas throughout the CDCR Institutional Medical Departments.
