The Del Mar Fairgrounds Operations Department is
responsible for providing the skilled labor resources to operate and maintain
the facilities in support of a wide variety of shows, exhibitions and meetings
throughout the year. Operations is also
responsible for the repair, maintenance and minor construction of all the
buildings, structures and equipment located on more than 400 acre campus.
Under direct supervision of the Operations Supervisor of
Building Trades, the Plumber II works at the working lead level performing the
duties of a journey level plumber; installs, maintains, inspects and repairs
plumbing equipment concerned with water, gas, oil, sewage, fire control, steam,
refrigeration and reclaimed water systems; trouble shoots plumbing systems;
prepares lists of materials, supplies, estimates job costs and lay out of jobs;
works from blueprints, plans and or
specifications and directs the work of 3 or more craftspeople and/or helpers. Ability
to communicate effectively, maintain cooperative relations with the general
public and co-workers, demonstrate mechanical aptitude and operate a variety of
tools and equipment. Teaches and directs the work of apprentices, plumbers,
laborers and other temporary assistants involved with plumbing installations,
teach and enforce safety regulations.
Available to work five (5) day work weeks with days off, TBD; Work nights, weekends, holidays &
overtime to meet business needs. During the annual SD County Fair & select other events thru-out the year, incumbent must be available to work
seven (7) days a week & overtime, as schedules vary depending on events which
will dictate the work hours/shifts.
The position(s) requires incumbents pass a Medical Evaluation. You will be required to submit to a Medical Evaluation and receive clearance prior to being hired.
- Ability to
lift up to 50 lbs.
- Required to work outside during temperature extremes and/or other conditions.
- Able to work around large crowds and noise.
